Morning ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Shanghai. I am your tour guide Tangshan, today I will take you to visit the people’s square. The people's Square, which located in downtown shanghai is the biggest public square. It is an awesome area to visit, and it’s a great place to go and see how the people of Shanghai are.  It is the city’s center of politics, economy, culture and artwith a group of magnificent buildings like museum, the exhibition hall, and the theater.

  Spots brief:

To the north of the Square stands a grand building, the City Hall, namely the Government Building of Shanghai.

The Shanghai Museum is situated in the heart of People’s Square, it is a large museum of ancient Chinese art, famous for its treasures of bronzes, Chinese traditional paintings. It is a must-see for foreign visitors.

The charming Shanghai grand Theatre is situated in the northwest part of the Square, and is close to the Government Building. The theater is especially beautiful at night with lights on. You can go into there to watch The swan dance and some other wonderful performance. To the northeast of the Square is the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, it’s the first kind of exhibition center in China. As you can see, the top of the building just like booming flowers, means the booming of the city or even the hole nation.

Decades ago, together with People’s Park next door, it was a racecourse.

After liberation in 1949, the northern part of the racecourse was built into today’s People Park and the southern part, into the People’s Square.

Under the Square is a large central Metro station where the No.1 and 2 metro lines meet.

Within the station itself are two modern marketplaces: one is Hong Kong shopping center, and the other is the Dimei underground market.  In the center of the square is a 320 square meter fountain, named the“Light of the Huangpu River”. When the night falls, Red, blue an

d yellow sculptures in the fountain show a beautiful, brilliant display, creating a fascinating sight.

There are two small squares beside the central square. The east square is called the Rising Sun Square; the west is called the Bright Moon Square.

Southwest of the square is a blue and white home for pigeons. Thousands of pigeons fly from their house to the Square to meet tourists each day. Their coming promotes a feeling of peace to all visitors here.

The fallowing time, you just need to take this opportunity to enjoy this moment freely. Let’s meet at the gate of people park at 12:00.Hope you have fun!
